About the Book
Jonathan Edwards once described God as “an infinite fountain of divine glory and sweetness.” This is good news for Christians journeying through the dryness and weariness of a fallen world. In Come to the Well, author Mathew Gilbert takes Christians to the well of God so they may drink and be satisfied in him.
Through fifty meditations on various Bible passages, theological topics, and life issues, Gilbert offers Christians a unique devotional book that carries significant theological weight to allow them to think more deeply about God without having to crack open a systematic theology. These short writings ground Christians in the gospel so they will find lasting joy in the face of suffering and temptation.
“In a quick-and-easy-10-step Christian culture, Mathew Gilbert rightly prefers to drive us to God’s Word for help with the disciple’s life. In this collection of theologically-rich devotional thoughts, he avoids the pitfalls of pithy superficialities, and instead beckons us into God’s presence.
His Scripture-soaked insight provides needed assistance for the often hectic, hurried and haphazard personal worship time by helping us answer the ‘Where do I begin?’ and ‘What should I read?’ questions. He pastorally pointedly reminds us of Christ’s daily invitation to Come to the Well. Enjoy the drink, friend!”

“Come to the Well is an invitation to be satisfied in Christ. With engaging and personal prose, Mathew Gilbert spans the spectrum of Christian discipleship and experience and fans godly affections with biblical truth. He has set before you a devotional feast! I was constantly encouraged and challenged by the book and happily commend it.”

“Mathew has written a devotional for the head and heart. In Come to the Well, you find doctrine deep and wide, a passion for the gospel that will arrest your heart, and meditations on Scripture that will draw your gaze to the dead, resurrected, and reigning King Jesus. Mathew has drunk deeply from the well of the gospel and he invites you to drink deeply as well.”
